Research has shown that musical study develops critical thinking and self-discipline skills and improves a child's early cognitive development, basic math and reading abilities, self-esteem, SAT scores, ability to work in teams, spatial reasoning skills, and school attendance.  Also, researchers have found that children involved with music education are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college, and are less likely to be involved with gangs and substance abuse.

Band Activity Fee

The Franklin High School Band has enjoyed a history of award-winning performances and wonderful learning experiences for literally hundreds of our students.  Maintaining that tradition of excellence is one of the goals of the Franklin HS Band Boosters and that effort depends on the financial support of our band families to make this a successful program.  The most significant source of funding for the Boosters is the annual Activity Fee paid by each student participating in one or more of the band programs.

Band Activity Fees are used to cover many significant expenses critical to the band’s success, including:

  • Equipment and repairs
  • All Region competition fees
  • Solo and Ensemble entry fees
  • Festival fees
  • Music and marching drill materials
  • Bus transportation for competitions and festivals
  • Clinician fees
  • Uniform cleaning
The $300 Activity Fee is non-refundable.  For the 2013-2014 school year, we will have 2 payment plans.  Please go to the "Activity Fee & Budget" link for more information.  The boosters have many fund raising opportunities throughout the year to help parents raise the activity fee. We offer a discount to families with more than one child in any of our band programs. A 10% discount will be offered for anyone who pays the entire balance by September 6, 2013.
